Visiting Family - PROBLEM?! - Find Forums!

Even though I live with my boyfriend I still see my parents a couple of times as week as they live nearby. My brother was also visiting so I thought this was the prime opportunity for a family get together. I went around their house to watch a film,  afterwards my Brother starts eating, not only is it loud but he also has a way of eating that his teeth will always catch the cutlery on every bite. I start to put my finger in my ear in his direction but it is still making me upset. I must have just been in a sad mood anyway because it really ticked me over the edge.

My Mum asked me what was wrong after a bit as I had not said anything and then I just burst in to tears. She came and sat next to me and asked what was wrong so I just basically said something is wrong with me. I explained everything saying I just can not cope with hearing that sound, I struggle at home eating with my boyfriend, keyboard noises. After I had calmed down a little my Mum found the same sites that I did about Misophonia on the BBC website etc, and obviously came to the conclusion that is what I have. Luckily my Mum is really supportive and even though she didn't know what Misophonia was or how bad it was for me she found me forums to look at, a place for me to go and chat to people with Misophonia.

I follow two pages on Facebook, the first is:

Misophonia Support Group

The second, which to me personally I find a lot more personal interaction (maybe because it has less members) is:

UK Misophonia Support Group

Both of these groups you can vent, ask questions and read other peoples experience, along with this blog it 100% gives me some relief as other people are experience the same problem. You could even join and just read peoples comments if you do not feel comfortable talking about it yet. You will feel much better hearing others peoples stories, especially if the people around you do not understand what you are going through.

My tip for today....is it obvious??
Find people. Talk to them. Someone close to you would be best, but not everyone can open their minds to problems like these, there are people online who are here for you.
